With reference to your letter No. 3730/1919 of
the 21st May last regarding a Dr. August Gaston or Bach, wo
claimed that he had offered his services to the Government
of Indo-China, I have the honour to inform you that I have
just received a few days ago a letter from the Chef de la Sûreté at Hanoi informing me that Dr. Auguste Gaston or
August Bach is quite bnknown both to the Administration
of Indo-China and to the Government of Tonkin,
As I had already enquired regarding him in Saigon
without result, it thus transpires that there is no corrob-
oration forthcoming of Dr. Gaston or Bach's statement thet
he offered his services to the Government of Indo-China.
I regret the delay in answering your letter which
has been due to the time that elepsed before I received a reply to the enquiry I addressed to the Chef de la Sûreté
at Hanoi.
I have, &c.,
yous floor.
